Questions:
Does your daughter spend a large amount of time in active play and very little time in front of a television or computer screen?
If you answered yes to this question your daughter is a ‘PLAYER’ personality.

If no, continue to the screeny personality questions.
Recommended Activities:
Dancing, ballet, gymnastics, martial arts or swimming. Indoor active games such as art, craft and construction activities.

How you can help your child:
Support active play by providing equipment and space at home for play. Organise family outings that link fun-times with being active, like roller blading, bushwalking or riding a bike.

Does your daughter spend around five hours each day watching television and/or playing video games? Does she play only about half an hour of sport a day?
If you answered yes to either of these questions, your daughter is a ‘SCREENY’ personality.

If no, continue to the sporty personality questions.
Recommended Activities:
Play music and encourage dancing, use a skipping rope, ride a bike, organize a picnic and play some games.

How you can help your child:
Choose interactive electronic games that require some form of physical activity, such as dance mats. Encourage them to engage in active play at home and in the community. Encourage them to click-off the TV and click-on to play.

Does your daughter spend up to two hours each day playing sport? Does she spend more than three hours a day in front of a TV or computer?
If you answered yes to either of these questions, your daughter is a ‘SPORTY’ personality.

If no, continue to the socialiser questions.
Recommended Activities:
Continue current activity and consider netball, softball, hockey, soccer, tennis or golf.

How you can help your child:
Limit time spent watch TV and encourage active girls by supporting involvement in sport and point out female sporting role models. Attend local games, offer to link them to local teams and support the team.

Does your daughter spend up to seven hours each day in inactive socializing, such as sitting and talking, and little time in sport or play?
If you answered yes to this question, your daughter is a ‘SOCIALISER’ personality.
Recommended Activities:
Organise a treasure hunt or have friends over for a dance party, active play or karaoke. Join Girl Guides or Scouts.

How you can help your child:
Encourage play that is active, heaps of fun and lets girls chat – form a walking group where friends go for a ‘walk and talk’. Encourage dancing to music, or singing popular songs. Provide active play equipment that can be easily used by groups – skipping ropes, hula-hoops and elastics.
